Engagement Sessions
First and most importantly, it gives us a chance to meet before your big day. Which honestly, is really helpfuI. I get to see how you vibe together and how you like to interact. You get to see what it's like to have me as your photographer and how I operate during a session.
It gives us time to get to know each other and to get comfortable with one another. I also usually offer to buy drinks or dinner for us all afterwards...cause that's how I like to roll.
As a note, if you are someone who doesn't like to get their picture taken or feels like they don't photograph well (more on this in a moment), it might seem counter intuitive, but having an engagement session is actually a very good idea.
Here's why: not liking getting your picture taken or not liking how you look in pictures all boils down to two things: confidence and comfortability.
How do we fix that? By getting in front of the camera more often.
I want you to LOVE your pictures. I want you to feel good about how you look in them. An engagement session gives you an opportunity before the wedding to go through the photography session process. To get used to seeing yourself in professional images.
But let's be clear - that doesn't mean your session needs to be formal.
Or serious. Unless you want it to be.
In fact, I will encourage you to plan a session with me that is ultimately, a reflection of the two of you. A date-night-in-action if you will.
We all want to look our best and feel our best on our wedding day.
Board games and popcorn on a Saturday night? I'll bring Monopoly.
Cruising the lake on a boat? Just call me Captain.
Hiking in the woods? I'll have the bug spray.
Working out together? I'll spot you.
Wine and beer tasting? I'll be your DD.
