One of my favorite weddings to shoot is micro-weddings! These are intimate weddings, with a smaller guest list, and have become more and more popular. Couples who plan micro weddings often have much less stress throughout the process, and on the day of the wedding! When you have fewer guests, you can have a more relaxed timeline. We can visit multiple sites, and take more time for family photos. As a wedding photographer, I also offer special micro-wedding packages! You can get 2 hours of coverage, so we can capture your ceremony, portraits, and families.
Another benefit is that you can really make it intimate and personal. The wedding is much more focused on you as the couple, and not on a ton of signage, decor and guests. You can really add more personal and unique details!
Because it’s a smaller event, it means fewer guests and typically fewer vendors. And, it can save a lot of money! Paying for 15 guests is a lot less than paying for 80. Another benefit is that it allows couples access to venues that might be out of budget otherwise. Many venues offer special pricing for micro weddings and elopements. This means you can have a gorgeous wedding, at a lower cost! Today, I am sharing my top 4 Massachusetts micro wedding venues! These are all incredible spaces, that will work perfectly for your smaller event!
Located in central Massachusetts, in Brookfield, I absolutely love shooting weddings at Oakholm Farm! It is Lake Front, so you get beautiful grounds for your ceremony and portraits. The Big House is their on-site resorted farmhouse, which is perfect for both a ceremony and reception. It also gives you a great rain backup site! Another great spot is their brewery, Oakholm Brewing. You can use this space for an indoor ceremony, or even a fun place for guests to hang out after you say I Do. I am also honored to be part of their elopement and micro-wedding packages! There are so many packages to chose from, from simple elopements to micro weddings with up to 25 guests.
If you are looking for the ultimate luxury experience, you will love The Fairmont Copley! Located in Boston, this is a 5-star luxury hotel with grand style. They have multiple ballrooms to choose from, so you can pick the one that fits your style! I recently photographed Susie and Winston’s wedding over the winter, and they chose the Oval Room. The large mirrored doors make a statement entrance for the bride, and space allows for social distancing. Another great part of The Fairmont Copley is the unique guest rooms! There are beautiful rooms for getting ready, and offer lots of light. The hotel also has beautiful grounds, so you can get portraits inside, and outside! This venue really allows for a complete wedding weekend, since guests can stay at the hotel.
With breathtaking mountain top views, Jiminy Peak is perfect for outdoorsy couples who want an adventure! This resort is nestled in the Northern Berkshires and has incredible views everywhere you look. For the couple looking for the most unique spot, you can have your ceremony at the summit! The resort offers a chairlift to take guests up to the top. For their fall wedding, Libby and Eli knew the summit was the perfect spot. The leaves were changing colors, and the guests were in love with the view! The resort also offers multiple reception spots, as well as plenty of guest rooms. You can really make it a complete wedding weekend! The resort has restaurants and lots of outdoor activities guests can do.
If you are looking for a rustic venue, that offers beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, check out The Starting Gate at Great Horse! Located in Western Massachusetts, in Hampden, this has some of the best valley views in the state. The venue is located on a golf course, so the grounds are always beautiful. Kaci and Tony’s chose The Starting Gate for their micro-wedding when the pandemic hit, and they could no longer use their original venue. This venue is the perfect mix of rustic and elegant, with large chandeliers, and natural wooden architecture. They offer an outdoor gazebo that overlooks the course, and is just stunning at sunset! And for those looking for an outdoor reception, their large covered deck is perfect for a smaller guest count.
