Kaci and Tony are simply an incredible duo. They met when Tony was the sub mail carrier one summer, and he covered the route where she worked. It was love at first sight for her. He would come to deliver mail and then hang out for thirty minutes or more. It took him the entire summer to ask her out! They’ve now been together for over five years. Their wedding was originally scheduled for 2021, but their wedding venue cancelled on them in late summer 2020. After some back and forth, they decided on a micro wedding at The Starting Gate.
Intimate The Starting Gate Wedding
Their wedding was actually a secret/surprise wedding at the Great Horse at The Starting Gate in Hampden, MA. They only invited a small number of immediate family and a few friends. They managed to keep the whole thing under wraps until they sent out “We’re married!” holiday cards.
As luck (and 2020) would have it, it was absolutely pouring their entire wedding day. Kaci, Tony, and I, admittedly, were a little bummed because the venue has an incredible view of the valley and the wedding was supposed to be outdoors. But the indoor ceremony ended up being incredibly intimate and gorgeous next to a beautiful stone fireplace.
Creating Amazing Photos
As a photographer, my job is to deliver incredible wedding photos to my couples, no matter what kind of day it is. I was keeping a close eye on the weather and while it was still pouring, the sun had set and created this incredible deep blue sky, and the fog had rolled into the valley. I was able to convince Kaci and Tony to come outside under the cover of umbrellas to go over to the gazebo where their ceremony was supposed to have taken place. These pictures ended up being some of my favorite images ever.
Kaci and Tony said that they gasped audibly at the sight of their wedding gallery, which just makes me feel so good. Kaci says that she didn’t quite understand the point of getting any pictures outside, but they agreed because they were having fun taking pictures with me. I’m so glad they trusted me because we were able to get something really special! Kaci says, “I honestly do not have the words to describe how much I love those photos in particular. They are the most genuine, intimate photos I have ever seen. I have literally never seen anyone share wedding photos like that before.”
