Ian and Theresa are such an incredible couple! Even though their original wedding plans had to change, they still celebrated in an intimate backyard wedding. Like so many other couples, their wedding date had to be moved. Their venue called and told them they were not holding any events for the rest of 2020 – which meant they not only had to find a new venue but re-plan it all!
They decided to move their reception to their backyard, and it was absolutely wonderful and so perfect. This was the first home they bought together, so it was even more meaningful for them. The couple chose to have their first look at a beautiful local park. They left the specific spot up to me, so I staked out the dock overlooking the pond for their first look. Ian was just so happy when he saw Theresa, and it was the perfect moment for the two of them to be together, alone, before the wedding.
After taking portraits in the park, we headed to the church for their ceremony. The couple did the wedding day safely, so there was just a handful of their closest family and friends, and everyone wore a mask. As a vendor, I appreciated how they made sure it was a safe day! Not all of their bridal party was able to be there, but they were able to have their adorable little flower girl. Even with a small guest list, this couple made the most of their day.
Guests headed to their backyard for the sweetest outdoor reception. They had guest tables on the lawn, with touches of blush and dusty rose. The table numbers were wooden pieces, and they had wooden signs throughout the lawn. Their first dance took place on their deck, where everyone could watch. They adore one another, which is evident if you spend even a little bit of time with them. And while they love to travel – they got engaged on the Obersee in Germany – having their wedding in their backyard ended up being better than they ever imagined. If you are dreaming of a backyard wedding like this, reach out! I would love to capture this perfect day for you.
